Ruwais

So, some friends and I decided to go check out Ruwais which is a small town located 240km west of Abu Dhabi. It once was a small fishing village, but today it is one of the most modern industrial complexes in the Middle East. It has an oil refinery which produces 120,000 barrels a day, a fertilizer plant run by Ruwais Fertilizer Industries (FERTIL), a marine terminal and a sulfur handling terminal among others.

There is a huge housing complex that was developed by ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. It has tennis courts, a buffet restaurant, gyms, schools, a hospital, beach club, banks and many other amenities. It covers an area of six square kilometers.

Nothing else really in the town. No mall, no bars..I'm pretty gla
d I don't live there.
Peek-a-boo!

Angry hermit crab! Get off my house
!

Ha ha, you can't get me!

Steffi and Sebastian.
Markus hanging out at the beach.

Going sight-seeing.

Check out all of the cranes. And NO kids.

I am WAY too old for this!

Weekend getaway for the Sheikh under construction.

Heading out of town and buzzing by the oil wells.
