Wadi Adventure Rafting & Surfing!

Here in Al Ain, they are opening a new water park that will be ready to open in January. Located at the base of Jebel Hafeet, it is the Middle East's first man made facility of its kind. It will have white water rafting (made to Olympic competition standards), kayaking, surfing (on waves up to 3.3 meters high) and a zip line.

We managed to get an i
nvite to a Guy Fawkes Day "soft" opening. Great. We had the whole place to ourselves for white water rafting. They have 3 different runs in order of difficulty: green, blue and black. I've been white water rafting before in Pennsylvania and West Virginia and I was amazed at how the black run was just like real rafting in category 4 or 5 rapids.

Thomas had never been rafting before and we all had a great time. We saw some goats come down from the mountain and drink some of the water. I was waiting for them to jump in for a swim! We managed 5 trips on the black run. We managed to stay in the boat except we almost got completely dumped on the last run.

I asked our rafting guide where he is from. He
said all of the guides were brought in from Nepal where they were actual river guides. Freaky.
Thomas is ready to try the black run.

Almost totally waterlogged!

Here we go again!
