Little Jade

Yes, I am a sucker.  Yet again, I have found myself with a poor little stray cat.  My band practices at a place called "The Old Sand Golf Club."  I had noticed a terribly skinny little cat with very long legs hanging out for a few weeks.  I felt so bad for her, that one night I put her in my car, drove her to a nearby 24 hour food store, bought her some cat food and water, took her back to the golf club, and made sure she was fed.

I even offered to provide some food to the club, but they kept insisting they were feeding her, although she wasn't gaining any weight.

A few weeks later, I noticed she had a terribly hurt foot.  She couldn't put any weight on it and it was caked in dirt and dried blood.  I looked at it with a flash light and I could see her tendons sticking out.  That was all I could take.  I scooped her up and held her in one hand and drove home with the other.

First thing in the morning, I took her to the vet.  She screamed while they cleaned the wound.  I had no intention of keeping her and asked that they give her vaccinations and spay her as well.  They estimated her to be about 4 months old.  In order to identify cats that have been fixed and vaccinated, they said they would "tag" her.  Ok fine.

The next day, I picked her up and they said she needed to stay inside for one week while the wound heals.  Ok fine.  I can keep her in the spare bedroom for a week, no problem.  It was then that I noticed how they "tagged" her.  They clipped the top of her left ear off!  Poor kitty!  She's deformed now!  I thought they would put a tattoo in her ear or something like they do to the cats I've seen in Germany!  Awwww...poor kitty!

But you all know me!  Do you really think I could let that sweet cat go back to living in the desert all alone?  No way.  Welcome to the family little girl Jade.

Poor Jade with a deformed ear now!
Here she is carefully starting to put weight on that bad foot.
Here you can see this blue stuff they put on wounds to protect it and help it to heal.
Poor little girl, her body is as skinny as her tail!
UPDATE:  Her little foot is soooo much better now!   She is doing great and getting along well with the boys.  She doesn't take any crap from them!

You can see how much plumper and healthier she looks after only a few short weeks!
Relaxing in her little bed.
Friends!
After a few days of hissing and slapping, they eventually all became friends!
