The Christmas Hash in Egypt!

I got up early this morning to do a special Christmas Hash, and ran into my boab (apartment manager) on my way out the door. He looked at me and said, "Happy Valentine!" to me. Well, it's the thought that counts!

Off I went to the special Hash House Harrier Run at Montazah Palace Gardens in Alexandria. Montazah palace was built in 1892 by Abbas Hilmi Pasha who was the last viceroy of Egypt. The palace is closed to the public, but the gar
dens cover over 100 acres and include palm trees, pine trees and flowers. Also, there is a bridge that was built by King Farouk that leads out to the sea.

Since it was Christmas, we made it a "red" run ... so you have to wear something red. The guys wore their Christmas hats. I wore mine along with a red satin robe that I have for effect. We still got hooted and hollered at, as usual, and some creepy guys tried to grab me and the girls as they drove by. No problem, I picked up a nice hefty rock and so did the other two girls. Just try that again - dickheads. To our dismay they didn't come back, but the grounds were so green and beautiful that it was worth it.

Hoopoe or "Thub Thub" is a species of bird that was considered sacred in Ancient Egypt and was depicted on the walls of tombs and temples.

We also managed to have a Christmas party and even attended a few!

What the hell is this thing? Like some kind of hillbilly Santa!
