The Adventure Begins - Day 5 Iowa to Ohio

Road Trip Day 5. Last day on the road. I had just about enough driving and decided to high-tail it the rest of the way to Cleveland.

I drove so fast through Indiana and Illinois that I missed the Wizard of Oz museum I saw the last time around. I did see a huge wind turbine field in Iowa, but the Buffalo Bill Museum was closed since it was a Sunday. There must have been 40 or 50 turbines clustered over the span of a just about a square mile or two. I don't remember seeing them in 2007, but I guess they have really increased production of them since 2008. I was surprised to learn that Iowa is the third largest producer of wind energy in the US, just behind California and Texas. Apparently, Iowa's topography and electric transmission lines combine for a wind energy friendly environment.

So we didn't make any stops on that last day except at a little park in Iowa near the birthplace of John Wayne where we put down a sheet in the grass and took a little nap.
We arrived in Cleveland just as the sun was setting. I never thought I'd be so glad to see downtown Cleveland with our two or three crappy skyscrapers!
