UAE National Day

Today is National Day here in the UAE. Similar to our 4th of July celebrations. This year the UAE turns 39 years old. Here at my college we had our own celebrations where students had a car decorating contest, did some traditional dancing, showed off their falconry skills, offered Dates to taste, and showed their Arabian horses.

One of my students brought his Falcon. They keep a little hood over its face so it doesn't get spooked I guess. They put the Falcon in my hand and took off the hood. It immediately turned its head to face me and it gave me a look like it wanted to rip my face off. Take it away!
A few of my favorite students: Ali and Eisa

Aaaah! He wants to rip my face off!

Tea time!

  1. Hi Lisa,
Well the Girl Scouts decided to do the UAE for World Friendship Day. I copied a few of your pictures to show them what things really look like at our meeting tomorrow. They are very excited! Please send a message if you get a chance. Miss you. Hope all is well.
