New Year's Eve in Dubai. There were so many parties to choose from. A few friends of mine and I went to a place called Barasti Beach Bar. We could see the fireworks from the Burj Al Arab and they had a disco show. It was a disco d.j. who was doing a whole disco shtick along with some disco characters dancing on stage. There are SO many great disco songs out there but he was playing some really bad ones. Plus he kept getting on the microphone and in a Chicago=style accent kept saying. "Get yer hand in the air!" Put yer hand up to-ward the ceiling!" God, it was So annoying! Just shut up and play the music!
Bar service was horrible and we weren't even able to get drinks until 2 minutes before midnight at which time we stormed the VIP section and hung out there the rest of the night.
At the end of the night, it was IMPOSSIBLE to find a taxi. One of my friends flagged down some random guys driving a Range Rover and asked them if they could give us a ride to our hotel room. We all piled in and with my friend's charm and my Arabic, we were golden! Can't wait until next year!
