So, CHIC was going to be playing at Sand Dance on Palm Jumeriah in Dubai. There were going to be some other acts there including Jamiroquai, whom I didn't care that much about.
I was excited about Chic and some disco dancing!
My friend, Azra, and I, finally made it over to the concert around 9pm. Jamiroquai was just taking the stage. We figured Chic would be after him. There was an annoyingly large number of drunk people there. They must have been there all day.
We wanted to get some beers, but the line was ridiculously long. You could buy a little cooler full of ten for a decent price, so we decided to do that.
In the meantime, I received texts from two of my friends. They each were just arriving at the concert and wanted to know if they had missed Chic. I said I didn't think so.
Jamiroquai came and went. After that, there was a band called Rudimentary. They were kind of a generic Black-Eyed Peas, but the younger crowd seemed to like them.
We suffered through a hour of their music. The MC announced the next act: some dj from France. NO!!!!! Turns out Chic has played at 5pm!!! And, of course they were great we were told!
Ugh, so we ALL missed Chic. What a waste.
