My quiz team and I decided to go to The Human League concert in Dubai Irish Village. We were surprised to learn that it was The Human League's 4th trip here!
Granted, it is still September, but wow, Dubai is still so much more hot and humid than Al Ain. I was just dripping sweat and almost passed out by the third song. I had to start pouring water on myself just to be marginally cool.
We were all kind of reminiscing about where we were when The Human League had their big hit, "Don't You Want Me". It was released in the UK in November 1981 making it the Christmas number 1 song that year. It didn't make its way to the US until sometime July 1982, of course, because of its MTV music video version of the song.
Who knew, when I was a 12 year old girl, that it would be 32 years later that I would actually be seeing them live...in Dubai no less!
*Please excuse the bad, shaky camera work. It's hard to take video and dance at the same time!

The original music video that put them on the map.
| Me & Derek. We lost the rest of our team in the crowd. |
Opening song: "Mirror Man"
Keep Feeling Fascination!
Don't You Want Me Baby!!!
Encore: "Together in Electric Dreams" ...but wait! No "Human?" Ok, the song wasn't critically acclaimed, but it was number one in the US! Number ONE! What the hell?
After being disgustingly drenched in sweat, we drove back to Al Ain and I was still wet after I got home. Yuck. Had a blast though!
Really enjoyed that concert! Deeply honoured to feature in a photo with the author of this blog!
