Canopy Skywalk

This morning, we got up super early to watch the sunrise.
My attempt at a selfie.
Today was an unscripted day in Mulu National Park.  We were free to do, or not do, whatever we wanted.  If I was smart, I would have skipped some of today's activities and given my feet a rest.  We had been averaging 8kms per day of jungle trekking; I was beginning to get blisters.  I knew we had lots more hiking ahead, and I was concerned about whether or not I would make it.  But, knowing me,  I couldn't take a break in fear I would miss out on something cool.
The 480 meter long “Mulu Canopy Skywalk” which is the world’s longest tree based canopy walk takes took us up in the towering tress where the forest pulses with life, among vivid butterflies, huge insects and lush ferns. .
I really hate heights and must admit, I was literally hugging the trees a few times while we were up on some pretty rickety platforms.

Next we braved some leech infested waters for a swim.

Look out for the warm water patches; a leech's favorite hang out!
Little potato bug looking millipedes.

No night walks tonight.  Nope, today was difficult enough, with more difficult days ahead!
