Dahab: My Favorite Place on Earth.

Woke up at 5am for my ride to Luxor Airport. On the plane I met an English guy who seemed pretty nice although he was a bit weird. He is an author and a "Truther." If you don't know what that is, look it up. I will neither defend nor challenge his beliefs, I just know that many people would automatically think the guy is insane, but I was still interested in what he had to say. More about him later.

I love Dahab so much. You can almost forget you are in Egypt. Almost. This is my third trip here since September. I ended up doing ten dives when I was here in December and resolved to get my Advanced SCUBA License next time around. It is actually a pretty easy thing to do. I got a book and had to read some chapters and practice the skills in the water. The chapters included, optimum buoyancy, underwater navigation, deep diving, naturalist, and drift diving. For the deep dive we went 30 meters down in a canyon.

My instructor was a pretty cool guy named Craig from East London, which explains why he had the Michael Caine accent and I had to keep asking him to repeat what he said. It was just the two of us, so I was able to go at my own pace. Five dives later, I was finished and now I'm ready to dive some shipwrecks. Woo hoo!

I ran into the Irish couple. They finally made it off of our felucca and to Dahab. Amos was there too; they all took the bus. No more busses for me!

I had dinner with the English guy from the plane one night. We were chatting when he told me his Italian girlfriend is a "witch." She is into astrology and making potions and stuff. Ok whatever. Then he told me, "Sometimes we are so naughty." And then he told me about how they were going to invite his niece and her friend over and then "accidentally" give the niece to much of whatever drug they were going to party with and then seduce her friend. I was horrified. He said, 'My friends said it's a terrible thing to do and that I shouldn't do it." I asked, "How old is this girl? He said, "nineteenish." (yeah right) I said, "Oh, so not like thirteen or something." He looked at me completely shocked and hurt and said, "What do you think I am? Sick or something?" Ummmmm yes, actually. I suddenly jumped up and said, "Oh, look at the time. Gotta go." And I left. Quickly. Freak.

Other than that, I got to spend a week relaxing...mostly relaxing. I got fired from my job while I was there. More about that in a future post. I love Dahab. My favorite place on earth. Well, Egypt anyway.
Working on my advanced SCUBA license.
