It sure was great seeing the other English Language Fellows, or ELFs as we are affectionately called. We had the opportunity to have dinner at the Deputy Ambassador's mansion in Cairo and do some schmoozing.

I was finally able to go and see my travel agent friend, Aladin, however I was disappointed when I went to his office and he had one of his workers deal with me instead. I definitely didn't want to deal with the hassle of trying to plan this trip on my own, I didn't want to be by myself the whole time, but I also didn't want to pay $1000.00 to do a five-star cruise, so I decided this way the best way to go.
Anyway, I told this guy that I wanted to take a trip to Luxor and Aswan and I wanted to make sure it included a felucca ride. The dude wrote out a VERY basic outline showing that I would take the overnight train to Aswan, spend two nights in the hotel there, go out to Abu Simbel and see some other sites, take a felucca for two nights down the Nile to Luxor, see more temples and two more nights in a hotel there. Total cost with transportation? $250.00. What? Come again? That's all? I was really shocked, but in a good way. I was definitely going to be roughing it a bit. No all-inclusive luxury cruise for me, but I also wanted to be able to afford to do more scuba diving after...so I decided to go for it.
