Roseto Cemetery

Today we decided to check out the cemetery.  I found only about 5 or 6 Cotturos the last time I was here, and I don't even know how they are related.  The cemetery is always interesting to visit anyway.

I learned today, that this cross is about 400 years old.  It marks the spot in funeral processions where it would stop and people would pass by and pay their last respects before continuing on to the cemetery.
I was told that this likely was a picture of a funeral procession. My grandfather is the man with the red dot above his head. The cross from the picture above would be located just left of this picture.
Entrance to the cemetery.
I thought this was really interesting.  A life-size likeness of husband and wife together for eternity.

Another interesting find.  Two brothers or cousins killed in a road accident in Toronto.
Tree-lined cemetery.
Death notices are posted on telephone poles.

Teaching Mary how to play the Italian card game of Scopa. The name is an Italian noun meaning "broom", since taking a scopa means "to sweep" all the cards from the table. Watching a game of scopa can be a highly entertaining activity, since games traditionally involve lively, colorful, and somewhat strong-worded banter in between hands. However, skill and chance are more important to the outcome of the game.
