Hashers Invade Agamy Beach.

Another Hash. Here we go! These are too fun! This week we had a barbie in Agamy Beach which is just a little bit west of Alexandria on the Mediterranean Sea. Agamy actually means "foreigner" in Arabic and it used to cater to the elite class in the 1950s.

It sure was nice to get away for the afternoon. Never mind that on our way we were all crammed in a minibus, but this wasn't really the issue. The issue was with our driver and the constant stop-and-go. I was trying so hard not to puke; I almost didn't make it. We passed another minibus that tried to go through what looked like a freakin' river going across the road and...uhhh...he didn't make it. So it could have been worse!

We finally arrived at Ali's place on the beach. This was the 25th run since the Hash was resurrected here in Alex and I believe there was a record turn out of about 20 people. Ali had a dog that he rescued after it was burned. Two years later and the dog is doing great and even had a cute litter of two week-old puppies. They were too cute. Although I was still feeling woozy from the ride down, I participated in this week's Hash Run...or walk as was the case for me. It was nice to bum around the city a bit and take in some new sites.

After the run we had our ceremonial Hash Circle with the usual shenanigans. This was going to be Zac's last Hash since he will be heading back to the U.S. in a few days, so he was hammered in the Hash Circle. Lu-cky! (said like Napoleon Dynamite) We then had our cook-out...on our...rusty...little...grill-thing. Hey, it was still pretty good!

On the way back...had another issue with the van. Our driver was doing about 80 mph, in the dark, with no headlights (this is typical Egyptian-style driving)...and didn't see the giant speed bump. He slammed on the brakes and we still hit it at about 40mph anyway. Yowch! Made it back in one piece though and I'm already looking forward to next week! On on!
